Ahead of the Curve: October 16, 2013

From the News & Blog World:

From Clients:

  • Slow and Steady: as college application deadlines get closer, pressure to finish sooner rather than later can build.  While colleges, generally, aren’t giving advantage in a “first come, first served” way based on when applications are received, applicants may not also want to take the risk of a technical glitch at the eleventh hour on the day the application is due.
  • Scholarships:  The concerns about paying for college often are motivators to apply for scholarships, yet knowing the amount a family can pay already for college costs can help put college scholarships in perspective. Then, the value of each scholarship is understood.
  • College Essays: brainstorming is the foundation of competitive essays, allowing writers to consider the full breadth of their experience. Yet, impatience and exuberance can sometimes impede, what one client calls, the “mental vomiting” stage of writing.  Have the courage to start slowly.
